Environmental Policy
One of the documents the Energy Specialist will work with you to create is your environmental policy. This is a positive statement by your business showing its awareness of the impact its daily operations has on the environment and how it aims to manage and reduce these impacts.
Every business should have an environmental policy and it is a necessity if you wish to obtain an environmental management standard (EMS). There are many benefits to having an environmental policy, from helping you to stay within government legislation and improving staff efficiency and awareness, to reducing energy consumption and saving money.
There are also less tangible but serious benefits when considering the business image. An effective environmental policy backed up with practical implementation and an external accreditation is a powerful tool for strengthening relationships with stakeholders, clients and suppliers and an asset when looking for new contracts and opportunities.
